Assuming I've got the correct couple you are involved with and that the Dancesportinfo profiles is correct:  there is only one domestic competition that they didn't make the final?? The Blackpool Junior seems quite respectable also.

Perhaps there are many more domestic results for this couple, that this site doesn't have, that back up your point?

I do think that your attitude about the enjoyment your children have in dancing is absolutely correct, regardless of whether or not you are correct that their results don't reflect the quality of their dancing.

pink unicorn I think the attitude is exactly right.  First and most important the couple must enjoy their dancing. Some results will be good and everyone is happy and others they will be a disappointment.  That is part and parcel of being a competitor.

Please forgive me if I make a few comments on your couples results and especially those you mention from Spain. In the Standard there were only 5 competitors in total 4 from Spain. In the Latin there were 15 and only from Spain and Portugal. They were not competing against any of the couples they come up against in EADA events so it is impossible to make a comparison between results in  England and abroad.  What I did notice was that in the dancesportinfo ratings their Latin rating actually went down so the result was worse than they could have expected.

It is hardly surprising that their own teacher rates them highly and in relation to this topic  people complain about teachers marking their pupils better.

I wish them all the very best of success because for sure England needs all their Junior competitors to have long careers.

pink unicorn please do not misunderstand me. You and the couple are clearly very proud of the results achieved outside England. Unfortunately it seems to me that you are then using these results as the basis to believe that the results in England are not fair. This is a huge mistake in my opinion and I think they do themselves a dis-service almost sour grapes sounding. It is meaningless beating International couples if the quality is not there. Even the lone Russian couple who convincingly won both events are rated by dancesportinfo at 461 and 1472 in the world.

Attack?  I am so sorry that you have chosen to see attack where there is none. I am so sorry that you have chosen to avoid the reality.

You see a need for apology. Interesting.

Please may I ask will you now apologise to the fine English competitors you attack suggesting they lack ability and do not deserve to beat[moderated by Admin at the request of involved parties]?  Will you now apologise to the Adjudicators you have attacked suggesting they are either incompetent or corrupt as they have not marked your couple into a  final?

Hi pink _unicorn,

I just had a look at that Russian winner's results on here. The junior Blackpool result you quoted is for the 12/13 age group. This means they are U14. A good U14 couple, but it does make the rating by this site's system quite reasonable. So it looks like the couples at this competiton,  nice one to attend for development, are from the young and ambitious group and not from the top 30/40 non-UK couples?

Comparing apples and oranges?

On a less questioning note: what you are doing seems a very sensible way of enjoying and progressing your couple's dancing. They are gaining confidence and experience against the couples outside the UK, which should stand them in good stead as they mature and  begin to dance in the major competions. I think UK couples should try to follow your example instead of playing exclusively in our own backyard!
