Σάββατο, 29 Αυγούστου 2009 10:23 πμ The EADA website currently contains what I and many others would consider a provocative statement with regard to Mr Maxwell standing down from the IPDSC Presidency. By all means express regret regarding the ill health but to then "thank him" for dividing the Professional dance world and with his involvment in the setting up of a body attempting to bring harm to the World Dance Council. The British Dance Council is a member of the WDC. EADA is a member of the BDC. Is EADA cheering on the enemy? Make no mistakee there are those in Italy and Russia who mean harm to British Dancing. To be delighted that through his hard work the membetship has GROWN to "40 countries". I would say the use of the word "growth" is misinformation. 30 countries attended the setting up meeting. The IPDSC show they have 36 Full member countries. 27 countries attended the last IPDSC AGM. 5 sent apolgies or a proxy. This number includes DanceSport America of which no one has knowledge plus one or two others about which I will refrain from making comment at this time. This "growth" ignores the resignation of Mr Shaugnessy (2 top officials - founding members gone in lessthan 2 months). the fall in the number of IPDSC competitors at their so called World Championships (From 90 couples in 2007 down to 67 couples in 2008 and 44 of those from Italy). It ignores that one country Switzerland has split and there is now a separate Amateur League for those who want no more of IDSF/IPDSC. Do EADA have no loyalty to British Dancing and British Coaches? Have they forgotten Junior Blackpool already? Why not just say straight out "We are backing Italy and Russia".

However your clarification that the first loyalty of EADA is to the IDSF and not British Dancing is welcome. So we now know EADA support FIDS/IDSF and Russia in the Junior Blackpool controversy.

However your clarification that the first loyalty of EADA is to the IDSF and not British Dancing is welcome. So we now know EADA support FIDS/IDSF and Russia in the Junior Blackpool controversy. ---- EADA is an amateur organisation that is designed to represent amateurs. It is registered with the BDC because the BDC organise the competitions in England. Given that the BDC don't allow amateurs to teach, even at a social level in england, it seems pretty normal that EADA may have similar ideas to the IPDSC. Also EADA are registered with the IDSF given that its amateurs, albeit rarely like taking part in impartial competitions in europe :)

You are not correct that the BDC do not allow amateurs teach at any level. There are strict conditions attached to Amateurs teaching. I also suggest you remember there are very strict child protection laws in the UK

The IDSF is the International governing body for dance and runs most of the Amateur competitions overseas, and is recognised by the International Olympic Committee. As well as being a member of the IDSF, EADA is the only UK Dancesport Association (Professional or Amateur), which is recognised by Sport England, UK Sport, the National Olympic Committee and WADA (the World Anti Doping Association). EADA is also proud to have a child protection policy approved by the NSPCC and an equity policy approved by Sport England. EADA is also represented on the British Dance Council and its sub-committees; and works closely with the Exercise Movement and Dance Partnership and Central Council for Physical Recreation.

I would be happy to see WDC as the biggest and just one world organisation. But we have what we have and I cannot change this situation. I can just boycott some competitions (GOC for example)...

However my interest is more in where the loyalties of EADA lie. To British Dancing and the BDC/WDC or to IDSF/IPDSC. The statement appears to indicate the latter. mxman unfortunately my questions have not been answered Perhaps this is the time for British Amateurs to be allowed to choose with whom they register as was suggested by the BDF.

The Dance Promoters Associatiion which provides competitions every week are membes of the BDC. They deserve better from EADA. The Ballroom Dancers Federation who providel special events for young EADA dancers deserve better. The teachers and coaches up and down the country who teach/coach/provide practise facilities who belong to the teaching societies which are BDC members deserve better.

The statement was designed to offer thanks to an individual who has helped promote dancing; it was not designed to reflect any political bias. EADA's loyalties are towards promoting dancesport and supporting dancers.
